About James McGowan
James McGowan served as a Montgomery County (PA) Law Enforcement professional for 34 years. He has a diverse investigative and technical skill set, including twenty-one years of homicide investigation. In 2021, James retired as the Lieutenant of the Homicide Unit in the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office, County Detective Bureau. He has earned a Master's Degree in Criminal Justice and is a graduate of the FBI National Academy Session #258. James has been an adjunct professor and guest speaker at several colleges and universities, including the FBI National Academy, DeSales University, The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, and Temple University. He has provided training in the area of homicide/ death investigation, investigative strategies for violent crime, background investigations, and police applicant screening - the use of the Polygraph.
